A Letter from the Leadership

Dear MAJF Community,

One of the things I love most about our Jewish community is that every one of us has a story. Some of our families have been in Mobile for generations. Others arrived here recently because of work, school, military service, or simply because they found a place to call home. While our stories may be different, they all become part of the same story—the story of Jewish Mobile.

As we look ahead to 2026, our goal is simple: to grow the Jewish community of Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

Growth isn't just about numbers. It's about relationships. It's about making sure every Jewish family knows there is a place for them here. It's about welcoming newcomers, engaging young professionals, supporting our seniors, investing in our children, and creating opportunities for people of every age and background to connect with one another and with Jewish life.

The Mobile Area Jewish Federation exists to bring our community together. Whether we're celebrating holidays, supporting those in need, preserving our history, educating our neighbors, or standing with Israel, our mission has always been to strengthen Jewish life right here at home.

That mission has never been more important.

Across our country, we continue to see an alarming rise in antisemitism. While those headlines can be discouraging, they will not define us. If anything, they remind us why strong Jewish communities matter. They remind us why it is so important that we continue to show up for one another, celebrate our traditions proudly, educate our neighbors, and ensure that Jewish life remains vibrant here on the Gulf Coast.

We are Jews. We are Mobilians. We have weathered hurricanes, economic downturns, wars, and countless challenges over the generations. Our community has endured because every generation chose not simply to preserve what they inherited, but to build something even stronger for those who would come after them. This generation will be no different.

Through your support, MAJF continues to strengthen our community by supporting Jewish Family Services, Gan Shalom Preschool, Jewish Children's Regional Service, Hillel at the University of Alabama and Auburn University, and through our partnership with Jewish Federations of North America, helping Jews in Israel and around the world when they need us most.

But the future of Jewish Mobile won't be built by organizations alone—it will be built by people.

By families inviting friends to an event.

By volunteers giving their time.

By donors investing in our future.

By young adults choosing to stay connected.

By every person who believes that Jewish life in Mobile is worth growing.

If you've been involved with MAJF for years, thank you. Your commitment has helped build the community we enjoy today. If you've never been involved, or if it's been a while, there's never been a better time to jump in. We need your ideas, your energy, and your passion as we write the next chapter together.

The future of Jewish Mobile isn't something that will simply happen. It is something we will build—together.

L'dor V'dor—From Generation to Generation. We have inherited an incredible legacy from those who came before us. Now it is our turn to strengthen it, grow it, and pass it on even stronger to those who will follow.
